New charter connection from Spain to Kajaani

The first charter from Spain will fly to Kajaani and Arctic Lakeland Finland in December 2025.

A new international market will be opened in Arctic Lakeland when the first Spanish charter will fly to Kajaani in December 2025. Negotiations will continue on a possible second flight from the same area.

– This flight will be operated with a 189-seat aircraft in cooperation with an international DMC operator, says Aija Laukkanen.

– We have been working with them for a long time and as a result we have already received charter flights from France in two winters. Now the aim is to increase Arctic Lakeland Finland’s visibility with them in different markets,” says Laukkanen.

Visit Finland’s market studies show that Finland is particularly well known in Spain as a winter destination and there is potential to promote Finland as a whole as a year-round destination, especially as interest in the Nordic countries grows.

The aim is to improve the accessibility of Arctic Lakeland from key foreign markets – especially from Central and Southern Europe and the UK. Improving accessibility is a necessary condition for Arctic Lakeland Finland to take full advantage of ongoing and upcoming development efforts, e.g. in terms of tourism investments. There is room for international growth and the availability of flights will directly affect the demand for tourism entrepreneurs’ products and thus sales,” says Aija Laukkanen, CEO of Vuokatin Matkailukeskus Ltd.

– For next winter, the number of charter flights to Kajaani Airport and Arctic Lakeland is currently confirmed to increase to at least 18 flights. Our growth has been strong,” says Aija Laukkanen.
